ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
Phokas family originated from Cappadocia and was one of the most powerful aristocratic families of Asia Minor in the 9th and 10th century. For five generations they held the highest military positions. The peak of their power was in the period 963-969, during the reign of Nikephoros II Phokas. After he was murdered and until the first quarter of the 11th century, members of the family actively participated in, or organized, rebellions and conspiracies. |
